Canterbury Gardens and Gifts

Staycationer JoJo described it best as she passed through the double doors at Canterbury Gardens in Escondido, California, she said, “it made her smile.”

As you walk in, there is room after room of displays or vignettes of classical, new age, and specialty Christmas decorations and ornaments.   You will find nutcrackers, villages, trees, lights, and all sorts of Christmas items.  In very corner there are trees with themes such as the cool beach themed tree with surfboards, mermaids, starfish, etc.

Towards the back there is one of the best villages and train displays that I have ever seen.  You don’t have to be a kid to appreciate the layer upon layer of, homes, trees, lights, and little miniature people.  Wandering through tunnels and over bridges, the trains add to the whimsical scene.   It takes you away and gives you yet another reason to smile.

In one side-room I found JoJo all creeped out by an elf display that she says gave her the heebie jeebies.  Let’s just say the elves looked more like something out of the Lord of the Rings, instead of the friendly little Santas helpers you usually see.

That’s what makes this place interesting, seeing all sorts of things you don’t normally see.

I guess it all depends on what you are into for Christmas.  Do you like creepy mischievous elves, old fashioned Santas, mermaids, bejeweled ornaments, silver, blue, or just a normal everyday snowman.

Whatever is your fancy they have it all here at:
